Finrozole

Description:
Finrozole is a synthetic aromatase inhibitor that inhibits the conversion of androgens to estrogen. It has been shown to be effective in treating metastatic breast cancer, as well as inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Finrozole may also be used for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease due to its ability to inhibit mitochondrial uncoupling, which prevents ATP production. This drug is a chiral compound with two enantiomers: R-finrozole and S-finrozole. The R-enantiomer is more potent than the S-enantiomer. The elimination phase of finrozole is much shorter than other drugs in this class, making it a desirable option for patients who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
